(2) The influence of the Jewish Christian community in Jerusalem on the text.(John was a Jewish Christian from Israel, before the Roman destruction of the city in 70 AD.
(3) The KEY role that the Nero Legend (Nero Redivivus leading a Parthian conquest of Rome) plays in many parts of the Apocalypse. This for me is what really distinguishes this book from any other that I own (which is over 25 commentaries) or any that I have seen in my exhaustive searches on the internet for a commentary that recognizes the key role that the legend plays in John's mind. It uncovers more instances of the Legend's influence on John's text than the commonly cited verses Rev 13:3 , 17:8, 17:11.Gilles Quispel commentary has for me, explained better than any other I have seen some of the difficult to understand verses.
