Very rarely do I read a book in one sitting, and normally one would not find me engaged in a story with such strong elements of love. But that's what I found myself doing with Robin Patchen's novella "One Christmas Eve."This story was simply amazing. With some well-rounded characters Robin moves us through an emotional story supported by strong dialogue and just enough suspense to keep us turning the page at a consistent pace.
Blake Carmichael is an actor who has just gotten out of rehab. As a recovering addict he wants nothing more for Christmas than to have the chance to repair a broken relationship with his son Eli. But when Eli and his girlfriend Kelsey sneak out and head to Boston for a concert, Blake finds his anger and trust in people being tested. He also finds something unexpected - A new friendship with a young woman name Tallia.
One Christmas Eve is a story that reminds us of the importance of this season. How a savior came in a humble way to give us a life that is far more abundant than anything we could ever hope to provide for by ourselves. It reminds of the importance of life - Family, friends and God...

This book was just right for Christmas reading. The Characters were believable and I related easily to them.
I loved the length of the story, although, I was not ready to let the characters go, just yet.
this was fun and refreshing. a great story of forgiveness with a teen boy and his dad trying to make a fresh start trusting each other.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was a good read I would recommend this book to all my family and friends
Robin's "One Christmas Eve" sets a high standard for her ensuing works. The earlier reviews have said virtually everything I could about it. But it kept my attention, and I devoured it in two sittings. (The interruption was unavoidable, but really irritating.) This is an author I'll be watching carefully. Can hardly wait for the next opus.

This is a fast-paced story. An easy read even with all the holiday rush.

Blake and Tallia pulled me right into their tale--one night in these character's lives, not just to find two missing teens, but to restore a broken relationship between father and son. I thoroughly enjoyed the compact timing and the immediacy of the journey as I traveled with these characters through their long dark night and into their morning of new hope.
Patchen paints her characters as believably flawed and thoroughly honest. Her writing is tight and the setting rendered well. I'm excited about this debut author, and I'm looking forward to her next work.
