I've been a fan of Sci-Fi and the paranormal for many decades now, and it isn't often I come across a book that can still surprise me like this one did. The gorgeous, but so NOT wanting to be noticed, Gemma, never knows when her dad is going to whisk her (along with the entire family) back in time. Once her body starts tingling she literally has minutes to find a closet or hide in a bathroom before she disintegrates like a golden transporter beam on Star Trek! She always appears in another time and place, stark naked, with no control or discussion as to when and where her father has selected for the next "Mission" of changing history for a lucky chosen few. Frankly, her dad's face could be in the dictionary next to "overprotective parent." If dad had allowed the rest of the family in on the plan instead of demanding absolute unquestioning obedience it would have made everyone's life simpler. That is another interesting aspect of the story. They are a loving family, but they were all pretty isolated due to their paranoia and fear of others discovering their ability to move through time.

Gemma's parents are adamant that secrecy is paramount to keep the family safe. If people knew what they were capable of, they could be "used and abused", her mother always says. Afraid she might accidentally utter the truth in an unguarded moment, Gemma spends her school days isolated from her peers because how can someone develop friendships when you can't reveal who you are? Of course, Harrison Granger, the hottie of the school changes all that! And THEN, the sparks start to fly as Papa Bear is so not wanting him disrupting the family unity and secrets! I really enjoyed seeing how Gemma shows strength and courage to challenge her family's isolationist views. The entire family is dedicated to honing their skills in weapon handling and martial arts because they are rescuing people in time that are in need of their protection while they are escaping from dungeons and certain death. They have a noble purpose and do not lightly use their ability to travel back in time. Well, actually, there is an odd thing that happens near the end of the book that makes me a bit suspicious about her dad's motive, but I'm trying to keep an open mind about him. lol Oh, and the mysterious Gabe on the beach...THAT looks promising! :D

This is a stand alone book, but I am delighted to see there are two more books in a 3-part sequel! So get it now, and leave your own review of the book!

Not a bad story but very drawn out, constantly suggesting something more is in the background , but never producing. About a third of the way thru the story the book abruptly ends leaving you without an ending or even an idea of where the story was going.
By the time I finished book one, there was no doubt in my mind that I needed to buy the other two books! (Thank you to the author for bundling all 3 for a low price.) This is a well-written story and I found myself connecting with the main characters. After reading all 3 books over a weekend, I woke up Monday morning still thinking about them.
I enjoyed the time travel and the gold dust. The love story is interesting and I am left wondering why they have a magnetic pull on each other. We didn't get to know too much in this book. It was just about this couples love and standing up for each other. I got a bit bored, but the ending was exciting. I am wondering what information this mysterious guy holds. But I am not sure I want to buy the next book. What if it is like this first one and doesn't go anywhere fast? Hmm.
This book was written for the younger generation but I found it a very engaging read...I am 58. The story had suspense, young love, very believable.
I like when an author can surprise me... I was not expecting the ending... I will be heading to the site to search for the next installment.
I highly recommend this book for any age over 10.
I freely chose to review this ARC from an unknown author to me and I'm glad I did and now want to read the whole series! To kids at her high school Gemma Hart was called a freak, but little did they know that she was hardly human and she had special powers that no one was to know about. She was friendless and avoided her classmates until a persistent Harrison Granger wouldn't take no for answer.

Harrison never expected a brief conversation with Gemma and when their hands brushed, it was like fire creeping throughout his body! Since that moment he couldn't stop thinking about her. He was supposed to meet his friends at the movies, but her spotted Gemma ahead of him in the ticket line and he hoped to talk to her again and maybe go on a date....
Im in love with this series! I hate falling asleep while reading because im that into it! Gemma is the one who defends her man instead of the traditional man defends women and i love that spin. How Gemma is so in love w Harrison is endearing but the forboding sense that the love is severed by fate hangs overhead. Unbelievably cruel parents who seem to care only for what they believe is important. The misery of being a teen and against the rules to trust outside of family is so backward for the reality of a teen. Love how Gemma arrives back in her ....birthday suit! Why the heat is always felt by harrison when he touches Gemma is curious too! I bet Harrison has a surprise in his family past too!...already reading 2nd book of this series! Love it
